Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) provide transport solutions by utilizing state-of-the-art information and telecommunications technologies. It is an integrated system of people, roads, and vehicles, designed to significantly contribute to improve road safety, efficiency and comfort, as well as environmental conservation through realization of smoother traffic by relieving traffic congestion.
ITS, which is part of the Internet of Things, includes vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) technology, and incorporates both wireless and wire-line communications-based information and electronics technologies.

Aventi Technologies is an independent provider of automation solutions and services with a focus on utilization within infrastructure and industry. Their customers are with traffic and transport sector, oil and gas, and energy and environment.
A project we collaborate with Aventi strives for vehicular communication with each other and with the road infrastructure. This is enabled through the exchange of standardized data packets via a special edition of WiFi and via the mobile network. The EU Commission aims a rollout of such systems in 2019, and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration is testing this already in connection with E8 Borealis, where Aventi will deliver the solution.
